Possess a thorough understanding of and an ability to relate to youth.
Three or more years of special education teaching experience.
Capacity to make thoughtful decisions based on facts, knowledge and insight and the courage to stand by the results.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, small and large groups, by correspondence or oral expression.
Ability to organize and plan effectively.
Possess an ethical and professional attitude toward colleagues and the policies of the district.
Facilitate the special services process from referral to placement.
Conduct educational assessments as part of the evaluation process.
Act as a resource to teachers and staff members with regard to the IEP process, generation of strategies for students and all other matters pertinent to special education.
Assume a leadership role in the decision process among staff, parents and educational teams to ensure compliance with federal, state and local guidelines.
Assist in the supervision of IEP development to ensure necessary documents are in compliance with federal, state and local guidelines.
Assist the Director of Special Services in the data gathering process and completion of necessary state reports.
Master of Education Degree with professional preparation in special education and knowledge of the special education process requirements
State of Missouri Special Education Teacher Certification
