Build relationships and pride in schools through continuous two-way communication with staff and the community which supports the mission statement of the district.
Solicit community and staff feedback through formal and informal means.
Provide and build positive relations with local and regional media.
Report and promote the activities, events, and achievements of the Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District in news releases, newsletters, speaking engagements, and on social media.
Coordinate and promote awards, special events, and recognitions for outstanding achievements of students, staff, and patrons.
Serve as information liaison between the school system and the community at large. Represent the district within various community organizations.
Expedite responses to inquiries and complaints received by the district from citizens, news media, and school personnel.
Attend all Board of Education meetings; prepare and distribute Board of Education bulletins to all staff and appropriate media outlets.
Support needs of the Board of Education and Superintendent in all areas related to communications, public involvement, and district planning.
Develop, design, and maintain the district website.
Conduct information campaigns for district elections.
Provide communication training for staff.
Serve as editor/writer/designer for all internal and external district newsletters.
Oversee and manage the use of the district’s mass notification system.
Assist with crisis communications.
Ensures proper use of the school logo.
Maintain the district-level social media account and oversee teacher/program/classroom social media accounts.
Serve as a resource and partner for building principals and other directors with communication.
Serves as Bright Futures school liaison.
Serve as Executive Director for the Harrisonville Public Foundation including, but not limited to, meeting agendas, meeting attendance, program coordination, board communication and newsletters.
Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
